Poppy meal is the dry material remaining once the oil is expelled from the seed.
Poppy seed is a by-product of the alkaloid extraction process carried out in Tasmania and in the past has been buried to biodegrade. The poppy meal is used as an agricultural fertiliser and the poppy oil is used as a furnace fuel. We are currently only processing low volumes of poppy seed.
This product makes an excellent agricultural fertiliser and is certified by NASSA as an organic input.
It is currently available in bulk, bulk bags (approx 800 kg) or 25kg bags.
The product is high in protein but is once again not suitable for stock or human consumption due to residual alkaloid.
