Poppy meal is the dry material remaining once the oil is expelled from the seed.

Poppy seed is a by-product of the alkaloid extraction process carried out in Tasmania and in the past has been buried to biodegrade. The poppy meal is used as an agricultural fertiliser and the poppy oil is used as a furnace fuel. We are currently only processing low volumes of poppy seed.
